In my last post, I talked about all the things that make me nervous about stepping into this ministry space. (Spoiler: it’s a long list.) But today, I want to flip the script a little—because while there’s plenty that makes me anxious, there’s also so much that makes me hopeful and genuinely excited about what’s ahead.
Here’s what’s giving me life right now:
Learning About People and Their Journeys
One of my favorite things is hearing people’s stories. Every time someone shares their journey—the highs, the heartbreaks, the questions, the growth—I’m reminded that no one’s story is too messy for Jesus. Getting to listen and learn from people’s real, honest experiences is such a gift. It’s humbling, stretching, and beautiful.
Opportunities for Growth
This ministry is definitely going to stretch me. (I mean, it already is.) But weirdly, I’m excited about that. I know that stepping into something hard means stepping into opportunities to grow—in humility, in wisdom, in faith. Growth isn’t always comfortable, but it’s so worth it.
Sharing Jesus with People
At the end of the day, that’s what this is all about: Jesus. It’s about helping people see that the heart of Christianity isn’t just a bunch of rules or restrictions about sexuality—it’s an invitation into a relationship with a Savior who loves us beyond words. Getting to be part of sharing that story? I honestly can’t think of anything better.
Helping People Love Others Well
One thing I’m really passionate about is helping people love others better. Conversations about sexuality aren’t just about ethics—they’re about people. I’m excited to help the Church not just “talk right” about sexuality, but love well. With compassion. With courage. With Christ at the center.
Growing in Trust and Reliance on Jesus
This ministry is way bigger than me—and that’s actually really good news. Every step forward is an invitation to lean harder into Jesus. To trust that He’s the one who changes hearts, not me. To remember that obedience matters more than outcomes. And to keep saying “yes” even when it feels scary.
Going Deeper Into the Theology of the Body, Sex, Marriage, and Singleness
I’m kind of a theology nerd at heart, and I’m really looking forward to diving even deeper into God’s beautiful design for our bodies, for sex, for marriage, and for singleness. There’s so much richness there—so much that speaks to our identity, our purpose, and our hope. I can’t wait to keep learning and teaching about it.
Seeing Jesus Meet People Where They Are At
One of the things that gives me the most hope is knowing that Jesus meets people exactly where they are—and He’s not overwhelmed by our questions, doubts, or struggles. I’m excited to watch Him show up in people’s lives in ways that only He can. It’s truly one of the most beautiful things to witness.
Teaching!
Honestly, teaching is one of my favorite things. I love getting to take complicated, intimidating topics and make them accessible, relatable, and (hopefully) a little less scary. Helping people connect big theological truths to their real, everyday lives? Sign me up.
Fun and Deep Dialogue About a Hard Topic
Believe it or not, talking about sexuality can actually be fun. (I know, shocker.) Some of the best conversations I’ve had have been honest, deep, hilarious, and hope-filled all at the same time. I’m excited to create spaces where people feel safe enough to ask real questions, wrestle with hard things, and maybe even laugh a little along the way.
So yeah—while there’s plenty that makes me nervous about this ministry, there’s even more that makes me hopeful. I’m trusting that God is already ahead of me, already working in ways I can’t see yet. And honestly? I’m excited to be along for the ride.
Here’s to growth, to grace, and to seeing Jesus do what only He can do.
