To understand ourselves — and why we so desperately need a Savior — we have to start with the story of who we were created to be, and what went wrong.

At Christ-Centered Sexuality, we believe that humanity was created with dignity, purpose, and beauty — designed to reflect the very image of God.
Every human being — male and female — is a unique combination of body and soul, made to know, experience, and love God in authentic and meaningful relationship.
Because of this, every person — no matter their story — is deserving of love, compassion, and kindness.
The image of God is not found in just a part of us, but in the whole human person.

God gave humanity a profound calling: to exercise dominion over creation — to rule on His behalf and help bring about His purposes of goodness, beauty, and flourishing in the world.
To fulfill this mission, human beings were equipped with reason, will, and freedom — real agency to choose and act within God’s creation.

But then came the Fall.

We believe that humanity was initially in a perfect state — whole, healthy, and enjoying intimate relationship with God.
Yet, of our own free choice, humanity turned away.
In rebellion, we rejected God’s love and authority, and as a result, our very nature became corrupted.
We fell into a state of death — no longer the kind of people who could live in the kind of relationship with God that He had intended from the beginning.

The effects of this fall are devastating and total.
We no longer function as whole, healthy human beings.
Every aspect of our humanity — mind, body, spirit, emotions — has been damaged by sin.
And the damage runs so deep that we are now incapable, in and of ourselves, of restoring what was lost.

We affirm that all humanity lives under the power of sin.
Left to ourselves, we are deserving of God’s righteous judgment.
We lack spiritual good before God, and we are completely unable to earn His favor or save ourselves.

Our need is desperate.
Our brokenness is real.
And yet — as we’ll explore in future posts — the story doesn’t end in our rebellion.
The God who made us also moves toward us in grace.

Before we can truly grasp the goodness of redemption, we have to understand the depth of our need.
At Christ-Centered Sexuality, we believe the human story begins with dignity, but it also faces devastating brokenness — and only God can make us whole again.
