Meet Sally Jo aka SJ
Sally Jo was born and raised in Washington State. In 2009, she moved to Montana to attend the School of Biblical Studies with Youth With a Mission (YWAM). During this time, she developed a deep love for missions and the Bible, eventually relocating to Montana to serve as a full-time missionary with YWAM. There, she helped train other missionaries in Biblical education.
After several years of serving with the School of Biblical Studies at YWAM Montana, Sally Jo moved to Boston in 2017 to pursue a Master’s in the New Testament at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (GCTS). Upon graduating in May 2019, she returned to YWAM Montana to continue training missionaries, this time with a focus on theological education.
While at GCTS, Sally Jo began exploring the topics of sex, sexuality, gender, singleness, and marriage in greater depth. After returning to Montana, she started writing lectures and developing training sessions centered on human sexuality. Over the past five years, she has dedicated herself to providing healthy and theologically sound teaching on these subjects.
This dedication stems in part from Sally Jo’s personal journey as a Christian navigating same-sex attraction for the last several decades. Her lived experience has given her unique insight and credibility in addressing these complex issues. This perspective allows her to approach the topic with both clarity and compassion, equipping her to train and teach other Christians on human sexuality.
Sally Jo firmly believes that the Bible offers clear guidance on God’s design for sex, sexuality, gender, singleness, and marriage. She strives to remain biblically and theologically accurate from a non-affirming, traditional perspective, while also demonstrating deep care for those wrestling with issues of sexuality, gender, and sexual brokenness.
